This is a simple garter stitch shawl that is easy enough for a beginner.
This pattern uses my own hand dyed Shimmer fingering weight yarn. Feel free to use any 2 ply fingering yarn you like.
The increases used are yarn overs, but any increase can be used if you don’t like holes in your knitting. The yarn overs at the beginning of the rows are for increase purposes, and won’t even be noticed after the shawl has been blocked. So don’t worry about having to pull out all of those loops when blocking!
You can easily make the shawl bigger by continuing to increase in the manner established.
I didn’t specifically say within the pattern, but you’ll of course want to weave in your loose ends. I’ve included a picture here of the shawl laying flat to show the shape. It is an asymmetric squarish shape.
