----- “CANDY BUTTON” SQUARES -----
“Candy Button” Squares are quick to make with a fun “POP” of color. Joined together they make a light and whimsical blanket that is perfect for Spring or Summer. ~

• Written in US terms.
• Yarn used: Various worsted weight (4) colored scraps for the CENTER ROUNDS and Lion Brand Wool-Ease in “Natural Heather” for the SQUARES worked around the CENTERS.
• Approx: 18 - 20 yards total per square.
• Hook size “J”. (6.0 mm)
• Squares measure approx. 4.25” x 4.25”.
• Squares have 13 STS per side.
• (Any weight of yarn can be used with a suitably sized hook. Size will of course vary, depending on yarn and hook size.)

DETAILS ON HOW I CONSTRUCTED MY SAMPLE BLANKET:

For my SAMPLE I joined 30 blocks (5 x 6) with a TIGHT JOIN using SC while completing the 5th ROUND of the squares. A size J hook was used for both the squares and the joining.

I then continued around my blanket with 3 rounds of MOSS/LINEN STITCH using the Lion Brand Wool-Ease, making SC, CHAIN 2, SC in the CORNERS. I then add 2 rounds of MOSS/LINEN STITCH in two complimentary accent colors, making SC, CHAIN 2, SC in the CORNERS. Next came another round of MOSS/LINEN STITCH in the Lion Brand Wool-Ease, making the same CORNERS as above.

I finished it off with my ~~ Rick Rack Border ~~. Working on the foundation of Moss/Linen Stitch: SS, DC, SS worked in chain 1 space. Skip next stitch. SS in next chain 1 space. SS in next stitch. SS, DC, SS in next chain 1 space. Continue all around, making 2 SS, DC, 2 SS in EACH CHAIN 2 CORNER SPACE. SS = Slip Stitch.
