This is an interlocking crochet technique.

This can be added to your other motifs of 25 × 25 window squares to make a blanket or as potholder.
The pattern file contains information on the yarn, gauge, a description of how to start the first 3 rows with pictures, a chart, all the written instructions, photos of where the colour change started and detailed instructions on how to change colours mid-row also the numbers of stitches to change and where exactly to change it if you’re changing colour for the carrots.
The yard stated above is an estimated one, there’s probability you might need more or less than the stated yard.

For this project you are crocheting an item with two colors, (or more, depending on how you want your work to turn out).

I advise you use the right hook size for your yarn of choice but if you crochet tight please go a hook higher to achieve a squishy effect.
