Pattern is written and has photos for some of the techniques I used to get the effect I wanted.

Both charted and written instructions are included for the lace detail on the hand.

My friend Tina wanted something just a little fancy but mostly casual for a fingerless mitt. She showed me some elements of ones she liked and I came up with these “casually formal” fingerless mitts.

These mitts fit an average woman’s hand. I have fairly big hands, but Tina for whom I designed and made the mitts has smaller hands and the mitts fit both of us comfortably.

I used Miss Babs Yowza – Whatta Skein! and Hikoo Simplicity for my two yarns simply because I had them in my stash. I would describe them both as a light worsted/heavy DK yarn. Thus any light worsted/heavy DK yarn will work fine as a substitute.

If you really want to dress them up a little, use something with a little silk or bamboo in it for the contrast color.

I don’t suggest using anything with a halo for the main part of the mitt as it will make the lace “disappear.”
