This is the fifth pattern in my Doctor Who Companions series, inspired by the companion Rory Williams. Rory is my personal favourite companion, both for his undying loyalty to Amy and the amazing journey his character took during his time with the Doctor.

Nothing is more representative of his love for Amy than his role as the Last Centurion, Amy’s protector during her 2,000 year confinement to the Pandorica. This shawlette is an interpretation of the Pandorica itself, with its strong geometric patterning and a combination of a brilliant Tri’Coterie irridescent teal silk blend and a gorgeous Tri’Coterie dark charcoal grey with bronze shimmer. The combination of light and dark is also representative of both sides of Rory’s incarnation as the Centurion as well - the strong fierce warrior protector… and the optimistic man waiting, knowing his true love will return.

Skills Needed

  • Basic knitting skills: knit stitch, and knitting front and back in the same stitch (kfb)

  • Colourwork: working stitches in both the main colour and contrast colour in the same row, and carrying floats

  • Slipping stitches over multiple rows (with instructions)

Finished Dimensions

Approximately 66-76 cm (26-30 inches) in diameter after blocking. The final dimensions may vary depending on your personal colourwork tension.
