This is a very simple lightweight scarf. If you can make chains you can do this.

As you can see from the photos, the look of the scarf depends on the yarn you choose. Choose a novelty eyelash-type yarn and it is very difficult to see the holes. They are still there and you can push one end of the scarf through any hole to keep it in place, if you want to. Choose a smoother yarn that changes gradually along its length and you get a scarf with subtle colour changes.

You can use any yarn you want. Thicker yarns might make the scarf a bit wider and thinner yarns might make it narrower. It can be any length so could be perfect for using up an odd ball when you don’t really know how much yarn there is.

This is one of four patterns in Neck and Neck … and Neck and Neck. It was first published on the Woolly Thoughts website in 2005.
