Checker is the fourth pattern released from a collection of patterns in an ebook called Biaz Blitz Knitz that I have published on Ravelry.
Biaz Blitz Knitz features 4 wrap patterns, each knit mostly in garter on the bias. The idea for the ebook began as I was designing “Swooper”. By the time I finished knitting the scarf, I knew there were more to come and Sailer, Ticker and Checker evolved. To give visual interest, I have added knit stitch variations like the elongated stitch etc. in between garter bands that also help add length while keeping the width short and also shape the first three wraps. Checker is worked only in garter. None of the 4 patterns use short rows or purling.

Checker is a 4-row pattern scarf worked only in garter on the bias. No short rows, no purling. It is worked in one piece with increases and decreases strategically placed to shape the scarf. Using two contrasting colors, the scarf is knit using the Intarsia method. I used a full skein of the fingering weight MC yarn to complete the scarf. I held two strands of the lace CC variegated yarn while knitting to get the same wraps per inch as the fingering weight MC yarn.
The wraps per inch of the MC yarn is 17 wraps per inch.

Fingering weight yarns that match or contrast each other would be ideal for this project. Just a single color does not work well for this pattern as it uses Intarsia method of knitting.
Thank Alena for test-knitting this scarf in such quick-time!
