Running out of time to make those last minute Christmas gifts? This quick and easy Christmas pudding hat makes the perfect stocking filler!

This pattern is based on my original Christmas pudding hat, but is knitted in chunky (bulky) weight yarn or DK weight yarn held double to make it even quicker. The hat is knitted in the round in reverse stocking stitch, with the sauce knitted separately and stitched in place to give the hat a 3-dimensional feel. Finally, the holly and berries are added separately.

The instructions cover five sizes, from baby to adult (head circumference: 14, 16, 18, 20, 22 in (36, 41, 46, 51, 56 cm), designed to be worn with between 0 and 3 in (0 and 7.5 cm) negative ease).

Tools: 6 mm (US 10) circular needle or set of 4 or 5 double-pointed needles; 5.5 mm (US 9) 40 cm (16 in) circular needle or set of 4 or 5 double-pointed needles; 6 mm (US 10) straight, single-pointed needles (or needle sizes needed to get gauge); Stitch marker; Tapestry needle

Materials: Any chunky weight yarn in the following colours (two strands of DK weight yarn may be used instead, in which case the yardages should be doubled): Brown (55 60, 75, 95, 110 m/55 65, 80, 100, 120 yds); White (35 45, 50, 60, 65 m/35 45, 50, 65, 70 yds); Red (oddment, <5 yds); Green (oddment, <30 m/<35 yds)

Difficulty: Intermediate (knit, purl, decreasing (k2tog, p2tog), increasing (m1, kfb), working in the round, slipped stitches
