Circular Shawl Spreadsheet

This pattern is available for free.

This is a simple spreadsheet designed to help people design circular shawls, based on the math concepts of Elizabeth Zimmerman’s pi shawl.

Circular Shawl Spreadsheet

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE DO NOT USE ANYTHING EXCEPT THE GREEN BOX. If you do, you will break the spreadsheet for anyone else who wants to use. Please save your own copy if you want to mess around with the formulas!

You plug in the number of stitches you want to cast on in the green box, and the spreadsheet will do the rest of the work.

It will give you the stitch count after each increase row, the actual number of rows between increase rows, and the “useable” rows after each increase.

For “useable” rows I am assuming you wish to maintain the k1, yo motif intact and thus 1 workable row is “lost” to maintaining it. Of course, it has not gone anywhere and if you wish to use it in your pattern, simply use the actual number column.

Also, the row numbers are set for simplicity. If you want to knit more than one row before starting increases, just ignore the row numbers column. This is only a guide.

Please only touch the green box-there is no easy way to lock cells in google docs so it might get messed up if you touch the other cells! Thank you!
