While they were not my favorite candy (that honor went to Root Beer Barrels), Circus Peanuts were still a childhood staple. There was just something special about that soft marshmallow-y interior and sweet banana flavor. A while ago while visiting the local big box craft store for an emergency yarn fix, I noticed several bags of those orange candies and waxed poetic about them and the connected childhood memories to my poor long suffering husband. The memories were still fresh in my mind when the mailman delivered the Knit Picks catalog a few days later, and there I saw the perfect yarn, misnamed Snapdragon but obviously the exact right color for Circus Peanuts. It wasn’t long before I had the rough idea sketched out on paper, and soon I had the whimsical socks you see before you.
