Inspired by a stocking top designed by Miss Henrietta Ryder of Richmond, Yorkshire in 1896.

SIZE
To fit up to 20(24:28)cm/8(9½:11)” midfoot circumference. The finished socks measure 15.5(19.5:23.5)cm/6¼(7¾:9¼)” around at the mid-foot.

YARN
Two contrasting colours of 4ply/fingering weight yarn with approximately 400 metres/436 yards per 100g. You will need 50g of each colour.

The pictured socks were made with Ann Kingstone’s ‘Yorkshire Warmth 4ply/fingering’ in the Druffen (MC) and Liggin’ (CC) shades.

NEEDLES
2.25mm/US 1 needles for your preferred method of small diameter circular knitting.

TENSION/GAUGE
36 sts and 50 rounds per 10cm/4” in blocked stocking stitch/stockinette.
