Comfort Food
When my Great Aunt Mimi, who was like a grandmother to me, passed away, I just couldn’t bring myself to knit. I didn’t have the energy to pick up my needles, yet I so wanted to knit.
I knew I needed to knit something comforting. Then I remembered the four gorgeous skeins of cashmere that were in my stash, in a color she loved on me. The design came immediately to me. A big, warm, cozy cowl to embrace me all winter long, in luxurious cashmere that I know Mimi would have loved. I knit and knit and knit, through tears sometimes, but just a week later this cowl and fingerless gloves set was done. They were my comfort food.
