Created by Patty Thomas, San Francisco Knit Designer & (not to be copied or published without permission, June-2011. This project was retested several times.

A gorgeous afghan with mini fans (just yarn overs), reversible cables and seed stitch sides will keep you cozy. (9 seed stitch borders with 12 stitch mini fans and 8 stitch reversible cables). This pattern was designed specifically for using Fibra Natura’s Sensational Superwash 100% Merino Wool to get this look. This yarn is machine washable Gentle Cycle in cold water and machine dryable on Wool Heat or Low Heat levels! I have seen this after machine gentle washing cold/drying wool/cool level & it looks fantastic out of the dryer. I named this afghan after one of my favorite beach areas of San Francisco. It has one of the most diverse landscapes in the city of San Francisco.

Level: INTERMEDIATE (Knowledge of cables/seed stitches & yarn overs – however, one of my beginning knitters of less than one year has made this)

Finished Size: 39 inches wide x 46 inches long

Knitting in Two or Three Colors: 2 rounds of Rows 1-8 sets = 2 ½ inches knitted. Therefore if you want to knit this in two or even three colors it is very doable. You just stop after the 2nd round of Rows 1-8 sets and Add In new color with minimal left over yarn starting on 3rd set of ROW 1. You would need 18 balls of balls of different colors. Example: 9 Balls of Color A, 9 Balls of Color B or 6 Balls of Color A, 6 Balls of Color B, 6 Balls of Color C. Note: the width at “beginning” appears a little less due to the cast on line.
