Nobody else needs to comment about infection control. I made it clear in the original pattern notes that the yarn needs to be washable. If you are giving this to a nurse or doctor, he or she will know about infection control procedures. Isolation patients have their own stethoscopes and we don’t bring our personal equipment into those rooms. We clean the diaphragm and bell between each patient with alcohol. Just like the sleeve of a lab coat, the health care provider will take care not to touch patients with this item.

I have at least 10 of these covers and change them every shift, just like I change my uniform.
