With an architect husband, a discussion about bricklaying led to the reveal his favourite configurations. Cross Bond, rows of short bricks and rows of longer ones, is a very nice pattern for both brickwork and a shawl.

Cross Bond is a slip stitch patterned crescent shawl. It requires approximately 300 meters of main colour (mortar) and 250 meter of contrast colour (bricks) using lace or fingering weight yarn. The shawl can be enlarged by adding additional repeats.

Orange shawl used 2 skeins Malabrigo Lace 1 Rhodesian and 1 Polar Morn 100% Merino, 470 yd/430 m per 50g on 3.75 mm (US 5) needles.
