These socks are your basic cuff-down solid ribbed socks. Except for one fine quality that makes them a good idea for gifting without constant measuring of the giftee’s foot…they stretch and quite a bit depending on how loosely you hold the yarn.

These will fit a medium to wide width mens’ foot, and I’ve been able to get a 6 inch leg and US mens size 10.5 foot out of each ball with about 13 or so yards left over while holding the yarn fairly taut, so keep that in mind when buying yarn for your own socks.

Yarn : Cascade Yarns Fixation (186 yds stretched 100 yds relaxed per 50g ball/98.3% cotton 1.7% elastic) 2 balls
Needles : US size 3 (3.25mm) dpns
Gauge : 28 sts and 50 rows = 4 inches (10 cm) in Stockinette

Subsitiutes: Elann Esprit
(but if you find something that works similarly well drop me a line and I’ll add it to the list)

NOTE: The row gauge for this pattern is much tighter than some people are used to and therefore results in a much longer heel flap than may be necessary, you may need to adjust this if this is your case. Please feel free to send me a message or email if you have trouble shortening the heel flap, I’d be happy to help.

If you’re having trouble with this pattern please contact me here. The blog I originally posted it from is several years old, and I can’t respond to you there.
