A few years back I knitted a lovely caplet with a large collar and since then made such good use of it. I wanted a version for those cool summer evenings, when you do not want the fuss of closing a shawl but need that extra warmth on your shoulder. Dagny, the namesake, is my daughter in law, who loves to wear items knitted by me all the time. Her wardrobe consists of a lot of boho-style garments and this item will go very well with it. The charm of the instructions is the simplicity of how the increases are hidden in the pattern, no kfb or m1 that will show and distract from the beauty of the yarn used. Alternating garter stripes with lace sections in two different colors adds some interest to the knitting process which will result in a slightly bell-shaped short cape, that is meant to be worn with a little positive ease at top and bottom.

Main Color (MC): Light My Fire 1 (1, 2) skeins
Contrasting Color (CC): Lillith Fair 1 skein

Size US #2.5 (3 mm) circular needles, 24 inches long; or size to obtain gauge.
Size US #3 (3.25 mm) circular needles, or size to obtain gauge.

1 locking stitch marker, tapestry needle (for weaving in ends)
Optional: crochet hook, slightly larger; D (3.25 mm) or E (3.5 mm) (I used E)
