Fingerless mitts in an easy chevron lace pattern that automatically spirals around the wearer’s wrist. Each pattern repetition fits on one double-pointed needle, so it’s easy to keep track. Worked from the fingers to the arm, so you can’t run out of yarn, and with cast-on thumb gussets that are decreased in the spiral pattern.

Knitted at the given gauge, the standard size fits most women’s hands (ca. 6 1/2 - 7 1/2). Make them in DK-weight yarn at 5 sts / inch for larger/men’s hands or with smaller needles in fingering weight for smaller/teen hands.

Works with a variety of yarns!

Pictured: the “large” size variation knitted with hand-dyed DK sock yarn (75 % wool, 25 % arcylic) from the “Wollaus” Kathrin Müller and worn on size 8 hands (purple) and the “standard” size in DK 100% wool and worn on size 6 1/2 hands (green).

This is the first time I have written down a pattern that I designed, so I would be grateful for any feedback. Any corrections will be posted here and the pattern updated.

I upped the yardage in the pattern. The first pair I knitted used about 100 yards, but I’m working on a second pair that might need more.

** CORRECTION **
Thumb gusset directions, right hand should read:
Rd 23: SSK
Rd 25: Sl last rem st onto 3rd needle and SSK it with the last patt st of 3rd needle.
Thumb gusset directions, left hand should read:
Rd 23: K2tog
Rd 25: Sl last rem st onto 3rd needle and K2tog it with the last patt st of 3rd needle.
The chart is correct up to and including round 23,, but on Rd 25 you should slip the last rem st onto 3rd needle and SSK (R hand) or K2tog (L hand) it with the last patt st of 3rd needle.
