Dog Days 8 is an unexpected addition to the Dog Days series of mini-projects! When knit at the gauge listed in sportweight yarn, it’s a good kerchief size; if you knit it in worsted-weight or aran yarn, it approaches the size of a mini-shawl.

Handspun is highly recommended! Yardage requirements are fairly minimal; the design shows off color gradients and subtle striping, and works with a little texture.

Materials:

  • 1 skein of Malabrigo Rastita or sportweight handspun, about 175-200 yards
  • 1 40” circular needle in US4-5/3.5.5-3.75mm, or size needed for gauge
  • Tapestry needle

Gauge:
For convenience, gauge is taken from the first triangle section of the project.
Gauge is 10 sts and 21 rows over 2”/5cm in blocked garter stitch, worked flat.

Gauge isn’t too important for this, as long as you err on the side of knitting at a larger gauge and not a smaller one. Knitting at a smaller gauge may result in an unwearably small finished piece.

ERRATA: In the free version, the terms/abbreviation section should include “mst: marked stitch.”
