I saw all kinds of lovely fabric Christmas tree skirts while shopping, and thought, “I can do that”. I took my inspiration from a 1897 doily. There were a few stops and starts trying to figure out, and rewrite the beginning of the pattern. Then I was on my own for the ending. It was a pretty fast knit though, since I used a US #10.5 needle and bulky yarn. I did a little blocking, sewed on some ribbons for the closure; and, I was done. You can work it all in one color or try 2 colors.

My sister suggested one color (natural beige) with an organza ribbon would have a very homey feeling. I like that idea too. Now I just have to decide if I’m going to knit it again.
