The Dubhlinn Cowl introduces a new way to work faux cables using the Showy Decrease. The Showy Decrease is a technique that links a series of decreases together with a slip stitch. It’s an easy idea that results in the stitches to rise up on the knit fabric and turns a decrease into a decorative element.

The cowl was designed as a starter project for the Dubhlinn Summer Shell, which is available in the Ravelry store for $4.50 US. This cowl pattern is included as part of the top pattern but now it will also be available for free on the blog so you can give the technique a try.

The 2 blog posts will show you all the ways in which the Showy Decrease has been used to date, with stockinette, to create deep ribs, shape hat tops and most recently, with garter stitch. Start here for info about the Showy Cable

The pattern has just been updated with a beautiful Ombre yarn by Freia and with decorative cast on and bind off edges perfect for the folded version.
