This Irish driving cap, also known as a Flat cap, Scally cap, Ivy cap and a Sixpence, has mini-cables along the side panels, and running along the center of the top.
The double brim is self supporting – no cardboard.
A challenging pattern for the adventurous knitter.

NEW - now included for download is a 21 page, 84 color photograph notated tutorial for knitting the Inishmore Cap, which uses the same construction as the Dublin, but doesn’t have the mini-cables.

This Cap is a variation on my Inishmore Cap - I added mini-cables to the side panels and top.

The brim’s structural integrity comes from the recommended cast on, the tight gauge, shaping, and leaving the wraps in place unless otherwise specified.
