This simple design is worked on size 7 or 8 needles (straight or circular) and can be easily adjusted to fit regardless of your gauge though 19 stitches in 4” is what I get on size 7 needles.

You need just 85 yards of any worsted weight yarn though I recommend using a wool blend that is washable.

When I first made these in the 1980’s, neon colors were all the rage as you can see by my son Eric’s ski band pictured. The boys recently asked me to knit new ones for them and so I found my notes and decided to share the design and instructions with you!

This is a great project for partial skeins of leftover yarn!

Skills needed include knit, purl, k2tog and make one. There are two simple seams. Adding a duplicate stitch or embroidery design is an option. Notions needed: One ring marker, a ruler or tape measure and a yarn needle for sewing the seam.

The pattern is also available on Etsy under Shamrock429 designs.
