Need a Pussyhat but want a light weight version for the summer or your warmer climate?
Not fond of seaming or grafting? Want to knit your hat in the round?

This lighter-weight hat is knit from the top down, in the round, using either fingering or sport weight yarn. I’ve knit versions in both wool and cotton.

You start with Judy’s Magic Cast-on and use short-rows, decreases, and a little garter stitch to form the ears. Then increases are made until you reach the size you want. Finish your hat off with some 2x2 ribbing.

Fingering-weight Sizes
approximately 17” (19”, 21”, 23”)/43 (48, 53, 58) cm circumference

Sport-weight Sizes
approximately 20” (22”, 24”, 26”)/51 (56, 61, 66) cm circumference

approximately 195 (215, 235, 255) yds/180 (200, 220, 240) m of in sport or fingering weight yarn

This pattern has been test-knit. Thank you to Ann amc88 who, along with her amazing daughter, Junebug, came up with the name “earRESISTible Hat”.
