Socks with worsted weight yarn are the best introduction to sock knitting, IMHO - they don’t take forever to finish but are still fine enough to wear in loose shoes or Birks.

This is the pattern I use in my classes to teach new knitters basic sock techniques on Double Pointed Needles. The instructions are chatty (no KnitSpeak!) and I’ve done my best to answer the questions my students ask most often.

I am available for technical support -

Feedback about the pattern is always appreciated and pictures, too, especially if you use this pattern for your very first socks.

Happy Knitting!
