Designed to coordinate with the Echinacea Hat, this cowl features a stretchy stitch pattern that combines ribbing and lace for a sophisticated texture. It is worked top down and uses gentle increases to create a funnel shape, with a wider bottom that allows it to sit comfortably on top of the shoulders. An optional tubular cast-on and bind-off add to the polished finishing touches.

Though the sample uses a DK weight yarn, worsted weight could easily be substituted.

To knit this cowl, you need to know how to:

  • work in the round,
  • knit a lace pattern using either a chart or written instructions,
  • work yarnovers,
  • work centered double decreases, and
  • graft live stitches (if doing the optional tubular bind off).

In addition to a yarn needle, a crochet hook and a length of waste yarn are needed if working the optional tubular cast-on, and an additional set of needles is needed if working the optional tubular bind-off.
