Elementary Putting Together the Pieces Deerstalker Hat was created at the requests over the years of folks who wanted a deerstalker hat they could sew together, rather than knit in one piece.

I wanted a version that looked woven, so I designed the sections to be knit on the diagonal. Each part of the hat - crown, ear flaps and brim - are all knit the same way. The hat is reversible, so you can wear it with seams out or seams in.

You will need:

Fingering weight yarn, about 3 1/2 oz
Size 1.5 US 2.5mm needles
Size B Crochet hook
Yarn Needle
Button (optional)
Lining (optional)
Interfacing (optional)
Elastic cord, head size plus 2” (optional)

Your skill set should include:

Garter Stitch
Increasing
Decreasing
I cord
Simple sewing
