This pattern gives you several options: Firstly, your Elf can be made with his eyes open or closed. This item can be made as a toy just with the Elf in his present sleeping bag, or as a Christmas decoration. If you opt to make him as a decoration, you can attach the Elf to a wreath, or attach his sleeping bag to the wreath and still be able to remove the Elf!
The pattern includes instructions to make both the Elf and his present sleeping bag, as well as how to make the wreath cover (and easily adjust the sizing of it for whatever wreath base you use).

This pattern is 13 pages long and contains loads of photos to help you every step of the way. It is written in American crochet terms.

For the Elf Figure & Present Sleeping Bag, you will need:

Yarn of your choice - yarn weight doesn’t really matter, the size of your Elf will simply turn out bigger or smaller! I used Patons Smoothie DK Yarn (this is quite a thick DK yarn so it is equivalent to aran or light worsted weight in other brands) and my finished Elf measures 14.5cm tall to the tip of his hat.

For the Elf figure, you will need the following colours:
Pale pink, green, white, black, red, and a small amount of yellow and dark pink.

For the present sleeping bag, you will need the following colours:
Blue and yellow.

A suitable size hook for the yarn you have chosen - I used a 4mm hook.

Toy stuffing for the head and body.

A pair of safety eyes - I used 6mm black eyes. This is optional and the eyes can be embroidered.

Finer yarn or embroidery thread in black for embroidering the closed eyes. This is optional and safety eyes can be used instead.

If You Are Attaching Your Elf to a Wreath, You Will Also Need:

A 25 cm flat-backed polystyrene / Styrofoam wreath base.

Chunky yarn in your choice of colour. The pattern will explain how to make the wreath cover the correct size in any yarn.

A suitable sized hook for your chunky yarn - I used a 5mm hook.

A tapestry needle (the longer, the better).

You may find it useful to have some long nosed pliers (for pulling the needle through the wreath).

Any additional decorations you would like to add - sequins / beads / pompoms / buttons etc and some invisible nylon thread to attach them with.

You are welcome to sell the items that you make using this pattern, but please do not sell / share the pattern itself. Thank you.
