Cosy slipper socks for all the family

After a (hopefully) long summer the autumn nights start drawing in. These slipper socks are perfect to keep your toes toasty as the weather cools. They are also a fabulous project to try new techniques in ‘Socktober’, toe up with a garter stitch short row toe and heel. Knitted in aran weight alpaca they are quick, squishy and super warm. Available in seven sizes this pattern is perfect for gift knitting and keeping the family warm this winter.

Pattern notes

This sock is knitted from the toe up and is designed to get the most from a 100g skein for adult socks. The yardage given is an estimate based on an average length foot for the size. If you are knitting for a larger foot, you may find that you need more yarn. Anything over a UK 7 will require between 100g and 120g depending on foot size.

I would recommend splitting your yarn in half before you start, this way you can maximise the length of your socks.

The heel and toe are worked using short rows. The short row is created using a standard wrap & turn. When you return to work past the W&T you do not need to pick up the wraps as they are masked in the garter stitch. Just knit the stitch as normal.
