This sweet dress looks like an old-fashioned pinafore, but it has the simplicity and ease of today’s lifestyle. It features a garter stitch yoke, and the body is done in stockinette stitch with “stripes” of ruching in reverse stockinette stitch. The sleeves and hem are accented with pretty ruffles.
It is knitted in the round so there are no seams to sew up. It’s reversible too!

It just uses simple knit and purl stitches which give an interesting texture, while being easy enough for a novice knitter.

Wear it on its own in summer, or over a long-sleeved top and tights in winter – very versatile.
Feel free to embellish it with a crochet edging, or a bow or a flower.

The really unique feature is that the dress is completely reversible – both inside and out and back to front. If your little girl gets her dress dirty and there’s no time to go home and change, just put the dress on inside out, or backwards, and you’re good to go! How cool is that ?

Pattern has been professionally tech-edited.
Thanks to Lauren who knitted the sample for me.
