Inspired by the soft, flattering caps worn by women for hundreds of years, this cap is worked in modular sections. The cap is worked flat, entirely in garter stitch. All increases are simple M1 backwards loops, all decreasing is done by simple k2togs. The rosette-top is created when the hat is simply laced shut through a series of k2tog/YO holes.

This pattern is particularly suited to “hand painted” yarns.

When worn, this hat will not crush your curls, and there is plenty of room to tuck in even quite long hair.
