This pair of elephants is novel because they are formed with their trunks upright and a gentle curve forward at the end. This is accomplished with knitting techniques and no internal mechanism is required to make their trunks stand tall.
The pattern is also knit in garter stitch to resemble the wrinkles on the skin of the elephants.
Each has their own embellishments, Elle the Elegant one is dressed with pink toenails and inner ears, as she holds a pink lily in her paws.
Edward the Patriotic Elephant is sporting a white cowboy hat embellished with a Canadian flag and his vest is a vibrant blue with the Canadian Maple Leaf on each chest. He is sporting blue toenails and inner ears to match the vest. He also has the male tusks the female does not have.
The pattern is a relatively easy knit with the construction of the trunk and the legs/thighs somewhat different to achieve the shape desired.
For each you will need just over one 100 gm ball of Red Heart Soft Touch Grey and small amounts of Bernat Satin for the embellishments and the ears.
Each is wearing safety eyes and is prepared in a safe manner for gifting to children.
