Emerson is a casual slouch hat with subtle detailing and alternative construction. Instead of casting on to work in the round as for most hats, Emerson instead begins by being worked flat. A slipped selvedge edge makes for easy sewing the piece together after knitting is complete. Rather than trying to hide the seam line it is presented as an opportunity for embellishment by being worked in a contrasting color.
