Ephemera are transitory written and printed matter not intended to be retained or preserved. The word derives from the Greek, meaning things lasting no more than a day. These mittens are sort of like that. Knitted in a loosely spun single ply yarn, they will not last more then a season or two. But they only take a day or two to knit (a few hours really) and they are incredibly warm.

Intended as a mitten ‘liner’ to wear under a pair of fingerless mitts or mittens, they have a certain sweetness all on their own.

They require 160 yards worsted weight yarn, err on the side of a heavy worsted or aran weight yarn if substituting.

Fingerless mitt was knit using the same pattern, and required less than 140 yards worsted weight yarn. Please see my project notes for more information.
