Here is another Hat in Tapestry Crochet designed specifically for men, but do not let that stop you from making the hat for anyone. The thinner the yarn the more you will need. My hope was to make a Hat with Karabella Aurora 8 using two skeins and I made it possible.

The Green and Orange hat is made with Karabella, the red and green hat is made with fingering weight yarn using more yarn and the same amount of stiches. The hat is a bit tighter, but looks great. The pattern has taken the fingering weight option into consideration and gives you an alternate pattern way of making this happen with fingering weight, which adds more rows at least 4 to 8 to the regular pattern. It is possible to add 6 more stitches (or multiple of 6)and make it bigger.

If you are substituting the yarn, you must make a swatch. Karabella Aurora 8 behaves more like a DK/Sport or fingering weight yarn than a Worsted weight. I love to use it for hats, but if you are going to substitute the yarn, go for a DK or fingering weight yarn and I think you will make a good substitution, look at the WPI anywhere from 9 to 11 WPI will make a good substitute.
