About the Design:
The shaped cables in this scarf bring a quirky liveliness to a traditional cable stitch pattern. The cables undulate evenly to and fro, creating large S’s.

If you can cable and work decreases and increases, you can make this scarf!

I’ve knit up 6 samples in a variety of Cascade Yarns wool and wool blend yarns, but, feel free to use a cotton or cotton blend yarn for a spring or summer scarf.

The length is totally up to you. Each pattern repeat is approximately 8” long, so 3-4 repeats use just 1 hank of yarn, and gives a short scarf to wear plain under a jacket, or use a Jul pedestal button, shawl pin or stick to secure it, for extra panache.

Two hanks give an even more versatile scarf length and three hanks will wow passersby!

Finished Dimensions:

Other Materials:
US size 15 (10 mm) ndl, cable ndl, tapestry ndl, 1.5” Jul Floral or Cinnamon Slice Pedestal Button (optional - I purchased them from Dream Weaver Yarns)

Gauge:
10 sts and 14 rows = 4” (10 cm) in St st with 2 strands Cloud
9.5 sts and 13 rows = 4” in St st with 2 strands Pastaza
10 sts and 12 rows = 4” in St st with 1 strand Lana Grande, and size 15 ndls or size to give gauge. 14 st x 28 row rep = approx 3.5-4” wide x 8.25-9” long

Due to slight differences in yarn weights and drape, each 28-row patt rep varies from 8.25 - 9” long.

The Eco Cloud gives 8.25-8.5” long reps.
The Pastaza gives between 8.75 and 9” reps.
The Lana Grande gives 9” reps.
To save time, take time to check gauge.

Substitute Yarn Weight:
Heavy Worsted to Chunky (held double) or Super Bulky Wt.
