Estonia is worked in top-down construction and features ¾ length sleeves.

I first fell in love with “Estonian Braids”, also called Lateral or Vikkel Braids, when I saw a friend knitting them. When I researched their origin and how to knit this exquisite little braid, I learned that they mostly were being used on socks, hats and gloves. I incorporated these exquisite little braids into this pullover design by having the braids replace the traditional ribbing on the neckline, the sleeves and the bottom ribbing.

Sizes: XS (S, M, L) (XL, 2XL, 3XL, 4XL) to fit chest sizes 34 (36, 38, 40) (44, 48, 52, 56)” or 86 (91.5, 96.5, 101.5)(112, 122, 132, 142) cm

Gauge: 24 sts & 32 rows = 4x4” in stockinette st, after blocking on U.S. 4 (3.5 mm) needles.

Yarn: approx. 1000 (1100, 1200, 1250)(1350, 1450, 1550, 1650) yards or 915 (1005, 1100, 1150)(1240, 1325, 1420, 1510) m of fingering weight yarn

Needles: Use the size needle that gives correct gauge!
U.S. 4 (3.5 mm) 32” or longer circular needle & 16” circular needle or DPN if not using magic loop
U.S. 3 (3.25 mm) 32” or longer circular needle & 16” circular needle or DPN if not using magic loop
U.S. 2 (3 mm) - 32” or longer circular needle & 16” circular needle or DPN if not using magic loop
U.S. 1 (2.5 mm) – 24” circular needle.
The body is worked in size U.S. 4 (3.5 mm) needles. The smaller sized needles are used to work the braids in the “ribbing”.

Notions: Stitch markers, scrap yarn to hold stitches, tapestry needle

Errata:
Sleeves - Place 74 (78, 78, 80) (86, 92, 96, 100) sts back onto larger working needle. - there was a typo on the pattern.
