Panels of mock cables and reverse stockinette stitch make a simple beanie with traditional sensibilities. At the crown, the panels lean towards each other, forming a lovely star shaped motif. Worked in worsted weight yarn, this hat is a quick knit and makes a great gift for men or women. Matches the Ferguson Cowl.

This pattern uses a mock cable technique where a stitch is slipped for two rows, then dropped on the third before crossing it to the left or right. A cable needle is not required.

Note: When you’re working the crown, the pattern says “Cross Panel 5”. This just means keep your slip-cross left or right in pattern.
