Make this mind-boggling afghan from our booklet of instructions.

Fibo-optic uses the Fibonacci Sequence in two directions, in each of the three dimensions, to give the illusion of a large flying cube. Although it is primarily intended as an afghan, it is ideally suited to being used as a wall-hanging or floor rug, where it can always been seen spread out.

This design is nowhere near as complicated to make as you may think. If you can knit garter stitch, you can do it. Some of the very small sections are a bit fiddly but not beyond the skills of fairly inexperienced knitters. There are only two main colours of yarn, which can be any yarn of your choice. A very thin yarn would cause the afghan to be smaller; a thick yarn would make it bigger. The instructions explain how to achieve the subtle shading for the front, side and bottom of the cube.
