Fiddler crabs are known for their asymmetric chelipeds. The small one is used for eating, while the large, which only males have, is used for attracting mates. During mating season, a male crab amorously shakes his overgrown cheliped, hoping to attract the affections of a passing female crab.

Now, you can knit up your own fiddler crab amigurumi with this original hansigurumi design! This cuddly crustacean is full of love, a perfect gift for the plushie connoisseur in your life or a special piece of knit artistry to keep for yourself.

This PDF pattern provides 10 pages of instructions for knitting up your little arthropod, complete with detailed line-by-line text, full-color photographic illustrations, and helpful technical notes. Additional technical assistance is also available through e-mail consultation with the designer.

Required techniques for this project include short rows, picking up stitches, standard decreases, and seaming (mattress stitch and Kitchener stitch). This pattern is recommended for the intermediate- or experienced-level knitter.
