A romantic little handbag with interchangeable purse straps (a cotton ribbon or bias tape is sewn inside the knitted strap to prevent it from stretching). The Fillmore Organic Bag is named after my personal favorite part of San Francisco, upper Fillmore Street. An excellent place to be with friends or while knitting.

Level: Intermediate (must be able to cable, make bobbles, make a buttonhole). Hardest part is establishing the first 2 rows of the body of the handbag after picking up the stitches. Once pattern is established, it just repeats the same pattern for 9 of the 10 rows for the set. The cables and bobbles are made on the 1st row of the sets, till it’s time for decreasing.

Materials: 2 hanks of O-Wool Classic Organic Merino Wool – Plum, one pair of double pointed needles size 8 and one pair of size 8 circular needles that are 24 inches, yarn needle, stitch markers, stitch counter and cable hook, stitch holder, 4 brass 1” O rings and 4 brass swivel bolt snaps, brass purse strap (if you are NOT doing interchangeable straps, then just 2 brass rings and 2 brass swivel bolt snaps), a ½ ” wide cotton ribbon (or 1” bias tape folded in half) 12 inches in length. Bag lining; ½ yard of fabric (trimmed to 31” x 17.5”), T-pins, sewing pins, sewing needle and sewing thread.
