These fingerless gloves mitts are one of my best selling gloves when I sell at local markets etc. Once you make one pair you will see how versatile they are and want to make more. I designed this pattern using Bendigo Woollen Mills alpaca however any lightweight alpaca can be used, if you can get the tension of 22 sts. per 10 cms. Don’t have any alpaca? That’s ok, they work up just as well in any 8 ply (DK, light worsted sport weight yarn) you just may need to go up a needle size, so as always work that tension square.

The fold back rib can be worn folded back to expose your fingers for texting, typing etc. or folded over your fingers for warmth. The softness of the alpaca makes these mitts a great addition to any winter wardrobe.

I have written this pattern with 8 ply alpaca in mind, however they work just as well written in any 8 ply yarn. You will need approximately 150 grams of yarn, Bendigo alpaca is sold in 200 gram balls.

They are a one size fits most, you can make them smaller by going down a needle size or add a bit of length to cuffs etc. I have written this pattern to be worked on dpns. however if you are familiar with the magic loop method you can use that method on 80cm circular needles.
