Please make sure you are using the JULY 2020 version of the pattern. It corrects the stitch count for the edging (start with 8 sts); clarifies that 4 sts must be bound off at the beginning of Row 8 on Chart 5; and switches the RS/WS designations of Chart 5, so that RS & WS rows of the chart are worked with the RS & WS of the shawl facing, respectively.

First Frost is a half-pi shawl with Estonian lace motifs and nupps. Leaves are followed by the tuisukiri pattern (snowdrifts) and then by the poollehekiri pattern (half-leaves) -- a perfect fit for the changing seasons. The shawl is finished with a simple knitted-on edging.

The pattern assumes that you can read charts, cast on provisionally, and have some experience knitting lace. Links are provided for 2 techniques to work nupps. There is a photo tutorial for attaching the edging.

I’m experimenting this year with a pay-what-you-will model. If you have made this pattern and would like to show your appreciation, please consider buying me a virtual coffee! Thanks for your support!
