Flounce is worked from the bottom up, beginning with a ruffle worked in the contrast color. A garter stitch ridge separates the ruffle from the body of the dress which is worked in stockinette stitch. The decreases that shape the A-line are worked in the body of the dress rather than at the side seams, giving the illusion of princess seams. Garter stitch edging is worked at the neck and the armholes.

The dress is sized with little ease as it is meant to be worn as a sundress rather than as a jumper.

This is a good project for the advanced beginner: you need to know how to knit and purl, k2tog, and skp, and how to pick up stitches.
