Flourish is an undulating buttoned cowl featuring the lovely, soft waves of Feather and Fan lace. The waves of the pattern stitch, along with rows in both stockinette and garter stitch, help break up the pooling you can get with handpainted yarns. By using a bulky, textural yarn, the waves are made abstract, creating a lovely, eye-catching accessory. This cowl makes great quick, much appreciated gifts. Make a few with different skeins, then use the leftovers to make another with crazy colors!

Materials
-1 skein FatCatKnits Wooly Bear yarn (125 yds/113 g) or other bulky yarn of similar yardage to weight ratio, to make gauge. (I’ve gone through the Ravelry yarn database and found some good yarn alternatives, which are listed above)
-1 set of 8 mm needles (straight or circular, you’ll be knitting back and forth)
-5 buttons, 7/8-1¼ inch
-Tapestry needle and thread to sew on buttons (it looks better if you use thread that matches the buttons, not the yarn), pins or clips to hold work together and mark button placement.
