This triangular shawl is easy to make and requires just a few basic crochet stitches. The first part is inspired by a basic granny square before flowing smoothly into a beautifully draping (yet still simple) lace section, ending with a simple border to ruffle the edges ever so slightly.

The pattern is written to be used with any weight of yarn and any gauge. It is particularly nice with variegated yarns.

Its a very flexible pattern and can be made as large or as small as desired.

Yarn used:

  • ~2.5 skeins Women’s Institute Soft and Silky (4ply) in colourway 286266, blue mix (~780m)
  • ~0.1 skeins Cascade 220 (worsted) in colourway 9568, twilight blue (~22m)

Stitches/techniques required (UK Terminology):

  • Chain stitch
  • Treble stitch
