Four by Four offers mittens and fingerless mitts in four sizes and in four different weights of yarn. Broken Rib with twisted stitches adorn the cuffs and travels up the sides, ending with an easy “Heart of a Blossom” closure at the top-- no grafting required!

Four by Four is worked in the round entirely from written instructions and can be worked using any needle method suitable for working in the round. Both mittens and fingerless mitts have a traditional thumb gusset which is placed between one of the two columns of twisted stitches. Stitch markers are helpful for denoting the start of the round and for separating the growing thumb gusset from the rest of the pattern. Reserve gusset stitches onto scrap yarn to better permit the mitten to be tried on for length and fit.
