Needle Requirement:
For some guidelines in selecting your needle size, start by choosing your yarn first and using the needle recommended on the label as your starting point. If you are a tight knitter, you will probably be okay with that. If you are a loose knitter, you might want to start by going down one millimeter size or more from what you would use to get the gauge on the yarn label. If you typically knit to gauge, you
may want to start with a needle one millimeter smaller than the label recommends for the smallest gauge. A swatch
will tell you if your gauge is too loose or too tight. If it’s too loose you will not see the definition of the p3tog. If it’s too
tight you will get frustrated trying to make the p3tog. Because there is so much variation in the yarns within each
category, (fingering, worsted, dk, etc) it is best to swatch to make sure you like the fabric.

Notes:
The original pattern was designed for a gift for a friend and I chose Gecko Yarn with the gradient color changes. When I decided to write the pattern for others, I went back to the Gecko Yarn and knew it had to be the “one” for the cover. Then I began to play with “what if?” and started making the scarf in other yarns, adding yardage to make the scarf into a wrap. That lead to Version 2, which only works well as a scarf. If you try to knit it deep enough for a shawl, it will get so long that you might be unhappy with the ends dragging on the floor.
