Frontline Cowl is a tribute to all the frontline workers who worked tirelessly to take care of us and keep our country safe during the COVID-19 pandemic. They are on the frontline protecting us.

This cowl was used as the teaching pattern for a basic cable guided knit along (GKAL) at my LYS, A Yarn Less Raveled. In a GKAL, students learn a new technique and practice what they learn while completing a project. There may be less formal instruction than in a class but more opportunity for individual guidance.

What makes this GKAL different from the other GKALs the shop has hosted is that it was held during the California shelter-in-place order during the COVID-19 pandemic. The GKAL was held virtually to keep in touch with fiber friends and to keep our community engaged in the craft while social distancing.

Swatch yarn and extra yarn are included in the yarn requirement.

Finished Measurements
Small (Medium, Large): 24 (36, 48)“/61 (91, 122) cm around by 6”/15 cm high

Gauge
18 sts and 27 rnds = 4”/10 cm in stockinette stitch, worked in the round, blocked, on larger needle size
14 sts and 27 rnds (1 repeat of cable stitch pattern) = 2.375”/6 cm, worked in the round, blocked, on larger needle size
