The Gable Cap is chock-full of texture. The reverse stockinette background really makes the stitches stand out, and the cables are deceptively simple! This hat will look best in solid/semi-solid colors. Speckles may also look great, but I’d shy away from highly variegated yarns.

For this pattern, I highly recommend using a Tubular Cast-On. If you don’t wish to use a tubular cast-on, I suggest the German Twisted Cast-On. Both produce a very neat but also stretchy edge.
Both Written Instructions and Charted Instructions are provided.
